LA Galaxy announce Academy Alliance
The professional soccer club, LA Galaxy has formed a strategic partnership with Bakersfield-based Roadrunner United FC, a youth development soccer program. Beginning immediately, with the upcoming 2014-15 season, Roadrunner United FC will now become "LA Galaxy Bakersfield."
Roadrunner United FC will be LA Galaxy's fourth alliance club, allowing its players, coaches and development-level players access and involvement in the LA Galaxy Academy development and competition system. The alliance connects LA Galaxy Bakersfield with the resources of the Major League Soccer (MLS) team.
We're very excited and eager to announce Roadrunner United FC as the first youth development club in central California to sign with a professional soccer club. Now, with this partnership, the LA Galaxy will be expanding their geographic footprint here in Bakersfield. They already have a successful U.S. Soccer Development Academy system in place, and we expect this new integrated organization will allow us to identify and develop more players, who may one day represent the LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer," says Hassan Halevy, Executive Director of Roadrunner United FC.
On the competitive side, both the boys and girls LA Galaxy Bakersfield teams will continue to compete in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League this year. The club will train and develop under the LA Galaxy system. The girls side of the club will be heavily focused on College ID exposure and technical support from the professional club.
LA Galaxy Bakersfield coaches will have opportunities for ongoing coaching and personal development through the LA Galaxy Academy, including training and education sessions with the LA Galaxy technical staff. Additionally, the LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy Bakersfield technical staffs will collaborate to introduce a consistent training system for the clubs' development systems.
Our LA Galaxy partnership will provide an exceptional resource that will help us improve the standard of youth soccer here in Central California," says Halevy. We want to be a primary asset for the LA Galaxy to help identify young players that have the potential of playing at a professional level and give them the training, resources and professional coaching. We are dedicated to creating the best opportunities for our young players to excel."
